Where Wine Tells Stories
Dear Diary, today we open the doors of the cellar, where even silence smells of wine.
It is in this corner of Eden Roc where time slows down, words become rare, and the scent of wood tells stories. It’s not a sea-view suite, it’s not the panoramic spa… but a precious world made of seductive bottles, each one lovingly preserved, just like the things we truly love.
More than 1,400 labels, 32 vertical tastings to collect, names any connoisseur would recognize at first glance: Solaia, Sassicaia, Masseto, Petrus, Marroneto, Guado al Tasso, Tignanello, Biondi Santi, Ornellaia, Rothschild, Montevetrano …
Here, every bottle is a voice, every label a story to be listened to slowly.
Vertical tastings, then, are a little journey through time: tasting the same label across different vintages is like rediscovering a familiar face over and over again, with ever-new emotions. Just one glass is enough to take you ten years back or project you into a future full of evolution and surprise.
At the Adamo ed Eva restaurant, Giorgio De Lucia, sommelier and now also brand ambassador of the Joaquin winery, doesn’t simply serve: he guides.
Every label he selects has its reason, a story, a perfect pairing (with the dish, with your mood, with the moment).
Luigi Marinaro is instead the gentle and profound voice who every afternoon welcomes guests in the wine room of Roc Pizza & Steak. His tastings are small concerts: each glass a note, each wine has its tempo.
And Luigi knows how to listen, even before telling.
The bottle that alone is worth a collection. The rarest. The most desired. The most poetic.
Romanée-Conti 2020 arrived at Eden Roc, and from that day our cellar began to breathe differently. There is an energy, a subtle vibration. Like when you’re keeping a secret.
It’s not a wine to pop open for celebration. It’s a wine to wait for, to gaze at, to long for.
There it is, among our bottles, silent and majestic. Waiting for the right moment. Because some emotions—the biggest ones—can’t be planned: they just happen.
